When you need SRT back
Editing suites, set-top boxes, TV players, translation toolkits — plenty of steps downstream accept SRT only. The fancy styling and positioning in ASS mean nothing there, so plain SRT is the safest hand-off.
What happens to style tags
Each ASS cue is a Dialogue line whose text often carries override tags like `{\fonts}` for color, motion, or effects. Converting to SRT drops these tags along with the styling, keeping only text and timing; `\N` line breaks become real line breaks. SSA files are readable too.

How to convert
Open the converter, drop in the ASS file (.ssa works too), choose SRT - SubRip as the output, then convert and download. Going the other way? See SRT to ASS.
