འمHow to convert subtitles to Excel / CSV

འمProofreading and translating are easier in a spreadsheet. Export subtitles to Excel or CSV, edit row by row, then convert back — time columns stay text, and line breaks inside dialogue are preserved.

What this tool does :: འمWhat this tool does

འمSubtitles are rows of cues and spreadsheets are rows of records — once it is a sheet, proofreading, commenting and bulk translation can all be done with tools you already know. Both directions are supported:

འمUpload and pick a direction

འمDrag a file in or browse for one. Each direction needs a different kind of file: to table takes subtitle files (SRT / VTT), to subtitle takes spreadsheet files (CSV / Excel, both .xlsx and .xls). Pick the wrong mode and the page tells you which file type that mode wants.

འم⚠️ This page reads UTF-8 only. If your subtitle opens as a screenful of question marks or boxes, run it through Mojibake repair first — broken encoding reads as nothing but replacement characters here.

འمEach mode wants a different file: subtitles in, spreadsheet out — and back

འمExporting subtitles to a table

འمChoose "to table", drop in a subtitle, and the preview lists every cue: index, start, end, text. The stat bar gives the cue count and total duration. Then hit "Download Excel (.xlsx)" or "Download CSV".

འمThe difference between the two: .xlsx is a real spreadsheet file where Excel cannot reformat your time column behind your back; CSV is more portable, but Excel may interpret the time column as something else when opening it. If that happens, select the time column and set its format to "Text" — or just use .xlsx.

འمImporting a table back to subtitles

འمChoose "to subtitle", drop in the sheet, and here is the column rule: it needs three columns for start, end and text (English headers Start / End / Text work too), in any order. `00:00:01,500` and `00:00:01.500` are both accepted; rows that cannot be parsed are skipped rather than condemning the whole file.

འمThe result is listed cue by cue in the preview; confirm, then download SRT or VTT. If those three columns are missing you get a message telling you to check the headers — usually because a different naming was used on export, or the header row is not row one.

FAQ :: འمFAQ

འمExcel shows the time column wrong? Use .xlsx and it never happens. If you must use CSV: select the time column and set the cell format to "Text" before opening.

འمDo the column headers have to be English? No. Start / End / Text are recognised in any language this page supports, and case does not matter.

འمAre my line breaks still there after importing? Yes. Line breaks inside dialogue are preserved, right down to the original wrapping.

འمIs ASS supported? This page handles SRT and VTT only. ASS carries style directives — convert it to SRT with Format converter first.

འمHow many files at once? One. To process dozens or hundreds, use Batch conversion (which only converts formats and does not go through a table).
